We’ve all been there….shonky haircuts that is and no girl should be put into such a situation.  We’ve all heard the bad stories, a sister, friend, aunt, mum or grandma having a mishap at the hairdressers and can’t bear the humiliation, storming out of the salon in tears.  Even though our hair does eventually grow back over time, this can sometimes takes weeks and months.  Let’s look at some of the ways we can fix a bad haircut and turn the situation around.

1. Cover up with lovable hats

Whether it is summer or winter, hats can be an excellent choice to cover up those bad hair days.  The right hat can be an exciting statement piece; it can add style and sophistication and empower you to feel on top of you ‘A’ game.

2. Senior stylist or reputable salon

The last thing you probably want to do after seeing your bad haircut is to spend a further second hanging around the salon, but this could also work in your favour.  Request for a senior stylist in the salon who may have the experience to work with what you have and fix the bad ‘do or if you have time, head to a more reputable salon to get another haircut.

3. Work in different hair accessories

Don’t make the mistake of styling your hair the same way you normally do, you hair is obviously not the way you want it to look, so styling the way you always have is not going to achieve the desired result.  Instead, try out new styles by enhancing your bad haircut with some accessories, with the attention now shifted to a fabulous hair accessory, you will feel more confident in no time.

4. Experiment with new hair products

Understand that different styling products complement different haircuts.  Mousse can give your curls definition or use it to with a hair dryer to straighten hair.  Wax will create a rock style and is great for choppy cuts whilst pomade is excellent for layered hair to add texture and shine.  Take some time and experiment with different products to find out what works and what doesn’t.

5. Cover up with a full wig or hair extensions

Your hair is an important feature to you and it doesn’t make us feel good if our hair isn’t looking great.  We don’t have to rock the same gorgeous haircut all the time, just take a look at some of the celebrities who frequently change their style.  Kelly Osbourne is no stranger to this, if you’re not happy with your haircut try wearing a perfect wig or add some extensions colour matched to your hair and make it work for you.

6. Take it as a challenge

Your not so perfect hair ‘do is an opportunity to give yourself a new style, throw in a fish tail, add some braids or try something new that you’ve always wanted to try.  Challenge yourself to find a way to improve the way it looks and you’ll often come out on top.
